“If it ain’t fatal... it ain’t final.”

These are the words of Cornelius, a man whose dreams of making music were upended before they ever had a chance to take root.

​

Life happened. Children, work, responsibilities, the expense of producing music, and an industry changing faster than he could find his place in it. Yet the songs never stopped coming. Cornelius would wake up with melodies, lyrics and arrangements in his head, with no way to make them sound in the real world the way he heard them inside.

Then came oral cancer.

​

Given a prognosis of five years to live, Cornelius survived, but cancer stripped him of the singing voice he once had. Still, he refused to leave music behind. He produced radio programs, co-hosted a podcast with Tomi Jenkins of Cameo, and eventually managed R&B legend O’Bryan. But the dream remained unfinished: he wanted to hear his own compositions come to life.

Then generative AI changed what was possible.

Cornelius makes no apology for using it. For a man whose voice was altered by cancer and whose music had spent decades trapped between imagination and the realities of traditional production, these tools provided something he thought he had lost: access to his own creativity.

Cornelius respects the debate surrounding AI and everyone's right to choose a side. He asks only that the same respect be extended to creators who have been left outside the gates because of age, economics, disability, circumstance, or an industry that moved on without them.

He believes he is standing at the beginning of a new generation of creators, and he intends to use that opportunity to make music that is creative, clean, thoughtful, respectful, thought-provoking and capable of changing lives.

If he can do that, he will have done what he came to this earth to do.

It took a lifetime to get here. But he got here during his lifetime.
